Planning an event or managing a construction site and have questions about portable restrooms or luxury restroom trailers? You’ve come to the right place. At The Throne Depot, we’re here to make your rental experience seamless. Below, we answer the most common questions about our portable toilet rentals, service frequency, trailer amenities, delivery timelines, and more.
Portable toilets are self-contained restrooms designed for locations without plumbing. Waste is collected in a sealed holding tank with a deodorizing solution that controls odors and begins breaking down waste. Ventilation helps reduce smells, and privacy features include secure locks and occupancy indicators. Units are regularly serviced, cleaned, restocked, and pumped out for proper disposal at licensed treatment facilities.
Renting portable toilets provides a convenient, cost-effective restroom solution for events, job sites, and outdoor locations. They eliminate the need for permanent plumbing, conserve water, and allow for flexible placement where restrooms are needed most. Regular professional servicing ensures cleanliness and hygiene, while multiple unit types, including handicap-accessible options, help accommodate different guest counts and accessibility needs.
For a full overview of the advantages, see our guide to portable toilet rental benefits.
For weddings, restroom trailers are the most popular choice due to their elegant interiors, climate control, flushing toilets, running water, and multiple stalls that minimize wait times. For smaller or more intimate weddings, VIP portable toilets offer a refined single-unit option with flushing and handwashing, providing an elevated experience without the footprint or hookups required for trailers.
For a full look at why restroom trailers are the preferred choice for weddings, see our guide on the benefits of luxury restroom trailers for weddings.
Portable toilets are designed for human waste and toilet paper only. Items such as wipes, feminine products, paper towels, diapers, trash, food, or chemicals should never be placed inside. These materials can cause clogs, damage equipment, and disrupt wastewater treatment. For events, we recommend placing trash cans near restrooms or adding trash box rentals to provide proper disposal for non-toilet items.
The blue liquid is a deodorizing and sanitizing solution used in portable toilets. It helps control odors, neutralize smells, and begin breaking down waste. The color masks visibility and keeps the unit looking cleaner between services. The solution we use is environmentally safe, non-hazardous, and biodegradable, and it’s refreshed during each service visit to maintain cleanliness and freshness.
Yes, we offer external locking options that can be included with your rental. Padlocks or chain-and-lock systems help prevent unauthorized use during off-hours, overnight, or between event days. For service access and safety reasons, customers should not use their own locks. Using our provided locking options ensures our team can properly service the unit as scheduled.
The Throne Depot offers handicap-accessible portable toilets with ADA-compliant features; flat entry, wide doors, interior handrails, and adequate space for wheelchair movement.
We follow a winter service protocol to keep portable toilets functional in cold conditions. An environmentally safe brine is added to tanks to prevent freezing, and service continues as weather allows. Units must remain accessible, with plowed routes and cleared doors after snowfall. During active storms, service may be delayed briefly for safety and resumes once conditions improve.
Yes, our restroom trailers are equipped with both air conditioning and heating, making them suitable for use throughout the year.
Yes, we offer ADA-compliant restroom trailers designed for safe, comfortable use. Our restroom trailers include ADA-accessible stalls with climate control, running water, and proper clearances, making them suitable for public events, workplaces, and sites requiring ADA compliance.
Attendants are not included by default but are available as an add-on package. Our attendants keep the trailer clean and well-maintained throughout your event, including restocking paper products and sanitizing between uses.
To learn more about what a restroom attendant does and how it improves the guest experience, see our guide on how restroom attendants elevate your event.
Yes, most of our restroom trailers require one (1) 20-amp, 110-volt, single-phase outlet for summer rentals. Larger or specialty trailers typically require two (2) 20-amp, 110-volt, single-phase outlets.
For proper operation, required electrical outlets must be located within 50 feet of the trailer.
Electrical needs can change for winter rentals, when additional circuits or different amperage and voltage may be required to support heating in cold-weather operation.
Because requirements vary by trailer size, setup, and season, we recommend confirming details with your sales representative, who will provide the exact electrical requirements for your specific trailer and rental season.
Yes, the restroom trailer requires access to a water source within 50 ft. of its location. If no water source is available, freshwater can be added to the trailer for an additional fee.
Restroom trailers are winterized to operate reliably in cold temperatures. Built-in heating keeps interiors warm, while insulated walls, heat tape, and heated waste tanks help prevent freezing. Wind barriers protect plumbing underneath the trailer. Trailers require a consistent power source to maintain heat, making them a comfortable, dependable option for winter events, construction sites, and cold-weather gatherings.

A bunk trailer is a mobile sleeping unit that provides private, onsite accommodations wherever a crew or team is working. Unlike restroom or shower trailers, bunk trailers are designed purely for rest — giving workers a clean, comfortable place to sleep without leaving the job site.
Each bunk trailer is divided into private, lockable rooms equipped with spring mattresses, under-bunk storage, tinted windows, wall heaters, and individual charging ports. The enclosed, self-contained design prioritizes comfort and privacy for individuals sharing a trailer in a work environment.
Bunk trailers are most commonly used on projects where workers are stationed far from home for extended periods — think large infrastructure projects, pipeline work, disaster relief operations, or remote construction sites. They’re also used by event production crews during multi-day festivals where staff need to remain on location overnight.
A shower restroom combo trailer combines private restroom facilities with showers in a single mobile unit. Throne Depot’s combo trailers are available in 3-, 4-, and 8-stall options to meet your unique needs. Each stall includes a toilet, sink, and shower, along with air conditioning, heat, and vent fans for comfort and privacy.
Depending on the trailer size, 3, 4, or 8 people can use it at once. Each stall operates independently with its own entrance and fully enclosed space, ensuring comfort and privacy. This setup keeps lines short and makes the trailer ideal for disaster relief, events, camps, and job sites.
Yes. Each shower includes hot and cold water, delivering a clean, comfortable experience for guests or crew in any environment.
A laundry trailer is a mobile unit equipped with washers and dryers for onsite laundry access. Throne Depot’s eight-station laundry trailer features two entrances, eight stacked washer-dryer sets, a sink, and a folding table for easy use.
Our laundry trailer connects to standard power and water sources, giving you full laundry capability wherever you need it. Each unit is designed for reliability and convenience, making it easy to wash and dry clothes without leaving the site.
Laundry trailers are commonly used at large events, construction sites, work camps, disaster relief areas, and other long-term setups where people live or work onsite. They provide an essential, hygienic solution for teams or guests who need clean clothes without leaving the location.
Portable toilet rentals typically cost $249–$349 per unit for a 28-day billing period, including delivery, weekly service, and pickup. Pricing varies primarily by unit type and whether additional servicing or add-ons are requested.
For larger events, construction sites, or multi-unit rentals, pricing is based on quantity, service frequency, and duration, often with more competitive rates.
For a full breakdown of what affects porta potty pricing, see our portable toilet rental cost guide. For an exact quote, contact our team.
Pricing is influenced by rental duration, location, service frequency, accessibility of the site, and unit type. Both short-term and long-term rentals are available, with long-term rentals typically offering lower per-unit costs over time. Additional factors like site conditions and servicing needs can also impact pricing, especially for larger or more complex projects.
Restroom trailer pricing depends on trailer size, location, water and electrical requirements, and whether on-site service is needed during use. Standard rentals typically range from $1,200–$1,800 per day. Specialty trailers, including ADA units or events requiring additional service, generally range from $1,800–$2,500+ per day. Long-term seasonal and construction rentals are priced separately.

There is no minimum rental period. We accommodate rentals of any length, from single-day needs to ongoing placements that remain on a site indefinitely.
For billing purposes, recurring rentals operate on a 28-day billing cycle rather than a calendar month. Single-day rentals are available, but keep in mind that pickup may take a day or two depending on scheduling and route availability. For longer-term needs such as construction sites, many clients maintain units on a continuous basis for the duration of their project.
If you have a specific timeline or an unusual request, contact our office and we will find a solution that works.
Yes. You can order directly online for most standard portable toilet rentals. Online orders must be placed at least 3 days in advance. If you need a unit on shorter notice or require delivery at a specific time, call us at (781) 653-7775 and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
No. Restroom trailers cannot be ordered directly online because they often require power, water, and placement planning. Customers can submit a request for a quote through our website and our team will follow up.
Online ordering saves time and allows clients to secure equipment quickly, especially during peak seasons.
For portable toilet rentals, we recommend placing orders at least 1 week in advance. However, we can usually fulfill short-notice orders as well. For restroom trailers, early booking is recommended for availability.
Portable toilets must be placed within 35 feet of where the truck can park. If a gate is involved, a minimum width of 48″ is required. The unit should not be moved after placement.
For weekday projects/events, the rental is delivered the day before and picked up the day after. Weekend event toilets are delivered on Fridays and picked up the following Monday or Tuesday. Special delivery or pickup arrangements can be made for an additional charge.
It’s not necessary to be present if the delivery location is clearly indicated. Pictures or a map view of the location are required. Presence during delivery is beneficial in case of placement issues.
Payments can be made online or over the phone by credit card when placing the order. We also offer ACH payment as an option.
Modern portable toilets are designed to control odors using sealed holding tanks, ventilation systems, and sanitation chemicals. When serviced regularly, properly maintained units should remain clean and odor-controlled. Regular servicing, proper placement, and adequate unit counts all help maintain a better experience for users.
During scheduled service visits, our team:
This process helps maintain hygiene, odor control, and safe use throughout the rental period. Various service frequency options are available.
If a unit reaches capacity before its scheduled service, contact our office as soon as possible so additional service can be arranged. To help prevent this, it’s important to rent the appropriate number of units and adjust service frequency for high-traffic or multi-day use. Additional service visits or extra units can be added to better manage usage.
Our “Service or Call Office” policy ensures coordination with the site contact for resolution. We maintain a high service completion rate.
The renter is responsible for any damage, tipping, or vandalism that occurs during the rental period, as outlined in our Terms & Conditions. If an incident happens, we assess the unit and bill based on actual repair or replacement costs. Prompt reporting helps minimize disruption and allows issues to be addressed quickly and fairly.
We can scale your rental program by adding units or increasing service frequency as your workforce grows.

A general guideline suggests 2 portable toilets per 100 guests for a 4-hour event and 4 portable toilets per 100 guests for events lasting over 4 hours. Actual needs may vary depending on factors such as whether food and alcohol are served. Feel free to contact us for personalized assistance, or use our calculator in the Event Planning Guide.
Restroom placement should consider accessibility, lighting, ground stability, and guest traffic flow. Units should be easy for guests to find while still being positioned thoughtfully within the overall event layout.
Portable toilets can typically be placed on level grass, gravel, or other stable surfaces. Restroom trailers require firm, level ground and may also need access to power and water depending on the unit.
For a detailed guide on placement strategy, unit counts, accessibility, and common mistakes to avoid, see our festival and outdoor event restroom planning guide.
Placement depends on site layout, guest flow, accessibility requirements, and proximity to high-traffic areas like food and beverage zones. The goal is to ensure units are convenient without creating congestion or disrupting the event experience.
For larger events or sites with unique conditions, our team takes a more hands-on approach. We review layout plans in advance and, when needed, conduct site visits to evaluate terrain, access points, and logistics. This allows us to recommend optimal placement and servicing strategies, helping ensure everything runs smoothly.
This approach has been used to support large-scale, citywide events like Salem’s Haunted Happenings.
For high-traffic events, weddings, and corporate functions, attendants help maintain cleanliness, restock supplies, and monitor usage. This significantly improves guest experience.
For weddings and upscale events, restroom trailers provide flushing toilets, climate control, interior lighting, and a more refined guest experience. Standard units are often used for vendors or parking areas.
To learn more about how restroom trailers work and what sets them apart, see our guide on what a restroom trailer is and how it works.
Peak wedding season in New England books quickly. We recommend reserving several months in advance to secure preferred trailer sizes and delivery windows.
Permit requirements vary by location and use. Most residential properties and private events do not require a permit for temporary restroom placement. Permits may be required for public events, construction sites, placements on public property, or when sidewalks or roadways are affected. Local cities and towns set their own rules, so requirements can differ by municipality.
Yes. We regularly coordinate sanitation for multi-day festivals and high-attendance public events. This includes structured placement, scheduled servicing, and coordination with event organizers.

SOCO stands for Service or Call Office. If a scheduled service cannot be completed for any reason, our driver remains on site while coordinating with our office to resolve the issue immediately rather than leaving the location unserviced.
In our regional market, The Throne Depot is the only portable restroom provider that formalizes service accountability through a structured guarantee program. While many companies promise reliable service, few back it with a defined commitment and clear follow-through if something is missed. Our guarantee sets expectations for consistency, cleanliness, and responsiveness, giving customers confidence that their site will be properly maintained and that any issues will be addressed quickly to keep operations running smoothly.
Missed service on a construction site can quickly lead to unsanitary conditions, potential compliance issues, and disruptions to your crew’s workflow. It’s not just about convenience, it impacts safety and productivity.
A formal service guarantee sets a clear standard for cleanliness and service frequency while ensuring accountability. It also means that if something is missed, there is a commitment to resolve it quickly rather than leaving the site unserviced without notice.
The Throne Depot is the only provider offering a true service guarantee through our SOCO: Service Or Call Office® program. For a full breakdown of how SOCO protects construction sites, see our construction site service guarantee guide.
Blocked access, locked gates, site obstructions, or unsafe conditions may prevent servicing. Under our service guarantee SOCO: Service Or Call Office®, we remain on site and coordinate resolution rather than leaving.
In the event of severe weather or unsafe road conditions, service routes may operate on a one-day delay to ensure the safety of our drivers and equipment.
We maintain structured service routes and operational tracking systems to ensure scheduled stops are completed consistently and efficiently. As a result, we maintain a 99.6% service completion rate across our service area.
